Yesterday, the annual Topcliffe & Asenby Produce Show was held in the Village Hall and all in all it was a great success. Dozens of people entered horticultural, floral, baking and hobby items in an attempt to win the various category competitions and walk off with a trophy.
Congratulations to Doug Allan who won the horticultural trophy and to Doug and Peter Lowe who shared the trophy for the most firsts, with eleven each.
The baking section was won for the second year running by Fiorella Shepherd.
The floral trophy was taken by Cath Towers with a fantastic display built around a typewriter.
The hobbies competition was won by Heather Holt who knitted an amazing bee and honeycomb blanket.
There were quite a few entries in the children’s section and some very happy children went away with certificates and sweets.
Thank you to Show Secretary Judith Lowe for all the hard work to organise the event. Also to volunteers who helped set up and clear away. Special thanks to the judges and to all those who submitted entries. And finally, thank you to all those who came along to experience the show.
£356.23 was raised through show entry fees, sale of refreshments and the raffle. This cash will go to help maintain and support the Village Hall.
