Topcliffe Summer Fair
This year’s annual summer fair at Topcliffe & Asenby Village Hall will be held on Saturday 2 August between 10am and 2pm. Besides a variety of stalls and a raffle, the summer fair will include afternoon tea, which will be available for a donation. Funds raised on the day will help support the Village Hall.
Stalls available: Organiser, Karen Morley says there’s still a few stalls available for crafters, artists, groups, charities or other organisations that would like to be involved. They are available at just £5, the same price as was charged for the last few years.
Help with Baking: Karen is also hoping that a few kind residents will bake some cakes, savouries or biscuits for the afternoon tea.
Please contact Karen on 01845 577426.

Hosepipe ban now in place
As of last Friday (11 July) Yorkshire households are covered by a temporary order restricting the use of hosepipes. The aim is to help the region’s reservoir levels recover and protect Yorkshire’s Water resources throughout the summer months, following one of the driest springs on record and the region being in drought.
If you are a blue badge holder, on Yorkshire Water’s Priority Services register, or their WaterSure tariff for medical reasons, then you will be an exception to the restrictions.
Yorkshire Water is encouraging everyone to think about how they can save and re-use water around the home as much as they can. People should not put themselves at risk unnecessarily. If you know someone who may struggle to use a watering can, they can apply for an exemption.
Anyone who has a question about the ‘ban’, can check the detailed FAQs on Yorkshire Water’s website at: https://www.yorkshirewater.com/hosepipes
The restrictions will be in place until the region has seen significant rainfall to bring reservoirs and groundwater stocks back to where they need to be. This may even last into the winter months. The legislation behind the ban gives a court power to fine customers who ignore it up to £1,000.
