Spike in rural crime
North Yorkshire Police this week said that there has recently been a significant spike in rural crime in the Hambleton area. Farming equipment, tools, off-road bikes, quad bikes and vehicles have been of particular interest to thieves. These have mainly been taken from outbuildings of farms and rural properties. As a result a policing operation is ongoing and a spokesman asked for anyone with information they feel may be relevant to get in touch with them at https://www.northyorkshire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us-beta/contact-us/ or pass on information anonymously to Crimestoppers at https://crimestoppers-uk.org/fearless/give-information-anonymously
Neighbourhood Policing Teams and Rural Task Force can also offer property marking to protect items. You can find more information here –http:// https://www.northyorkshire.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/wsi/watch-schemes-initiatives/ny-pm/dot-peen-property-marking/
They also offer Rural Watch which is a free scheme set up to support communities in the fight against rural crime – Rural Watch |http:// North Yorkshire Police
